my friend, mindy kaling.

1/12/2013

Ok, ok so obviously I have yet to post the second video from my trip to Atlanta for the Passion Conference. In my defense, that is because I have been deathly ill this week.
I probably wouldn't have died, but in my over-dramatic mind, it sure felt like I might have.

So, maybe I'll post a follow-up video soon.
Maybe not.
Who knows.
Honestly, I'm terrible at committing myself to something and following through most of the time.
Which isn't a great quality, I'm aware.
I just try to remind myself that I'll get better.

Anyways, this morning I had plans to get up, clean my room up because it looks like the tornado from The Wizard of Oz came through it, do my large pile of laundry, and attempt to clear out the mess in my vehicle.
None of that has happened thus far.
It is 11:25am.

So what did I do instead?
Oh, I finally sat down to read Mindy Kaling's book.

Let me just say that I wish we were friends.
Like if I knew where to find her, I would be one of those creepy stalker people you hear about on television.
Of course I wouldn't be arrested or charged for anything.
Because she would find me in her house, probably in her library (I'm not sure if she has one, but I'm assuming), we would start talking, make jokes about our weight and how we will never be skinny, and become the best of friends that I knew we would always be.
Yes, that is how it would go.
Afterwards, we would make arrangements to meet for dinner where she would introduce me to Zooey Deschanel.

But for now, I have to go into town with one of my "real-life" friends.
Then, I will come home and clean.
Maybe...or nap.
It's raining outside, I don't have to work, and that basically means I should nap all day.
Oh, and then I'm meeting friends to go watch 'Pitch Perfect' at their house.
If you haven't seen that movie, then get off the computer now, go to RedBox (or wherever you rent movies), rent it, and then get ready to laugh so hard you'll cry.
I'm serious.
You can thank me later.

Happy weekend, friends.
much love,
colie.

Six years.

2/15/2012

The other day, I was driving in my car, when The Fray came on the radio.
Remember the song, "You Found Me"?
Well, if you don't then I'm about to refresh your memory. ;)
The first thing I thought of was the show 'LOST'.
They used that song for the Season 6 promo.

So, I woke up this morning and decided to watch it.
Goodness, I have missed that show!
I'm serious.
Many of us, including myself, could say that it didn't end the best after being devoted to it for six years.
However, the story was absolutely amazing!
I watched the music video and found myself rooting for them all over again, wanting to tear up because I knew the outcome, and happy knowing that Benjamin Linus wasn't as bad as he was in the beginning.
Yes, yes ... it may be a bit much.
I'm sorry.
The same thing happens when I read an amazing book or see a great movie.
I kind of get wrapped up into their reality & feel like I know all the characters personally.
Sad, but so very true.

Do you see what I mean?!
Aw.
During that six year journey, we were all just as 'lost' as the characters.
I think that is what kept us rushing home from work or school each week to see what happened.
So, basically I think that there should be some kind of weekly 'LOST', "re-watch all the seasons", because it is so awesome thing going on!
Who is with me?! ;)

The games are almost here!

This short, new trailer for 'The Hunger Games' got me even more excited for the upcoming movie!
March 23rd could not come fast enough, folks!! :)
Goodness, & can I just say how perfect Jennifer Lawerence will be as Katniss ... the girl on fire!?
Flawless.

Also, if you happen to be one of the few people who haven't read the books, then PLEASE for all that is good in this world ... you need to ... TODAY!!
Ok, ok ... I've said my peace.
& may the odds be ever in your favor. ;)

an uneventful day. a wonderful day.

1/03/2012

I had planned to start a new feature on my blog today, which I will continue for the next 14 weeks every Tuesday.
However, that did not happen.
I spent very little time around my laptop ... which was kind of refreshing in a way.

My day was spent sleeping in, reading, getting a phone call from the hospital (the job position is still up in the air until the end of the week : / ), grabbing lunch with mom, heading to the old bookstore, singing and dancing to glee, picking up the girls from school, making a sonic run, and watching a movie.
It was pritty wonderful.

Oh, and two other great things happened.
Last night I got to watch "We Bought a Zoo" and it was absolutely fantastic.
It made me laugh, cry, and seek for a little more courage.
(+ I may have formed a slight crush on Matt Damon...)
AND... i found out that Jordan's aunt got me some scarves!!!
**might have done a happy dance after receiving that news. ;)

Now, everyone is asleep.
I am curled up in bed with a blanket, sweatshirt, and my jammies.
I have a peace of mind to just reflect on life in these moments.
When it is silent, it feels as though the world has slowed down a bit ... even if for a few minutes.
That is when I feel God speaking to me the most.
There is something special about that.

So, my hope is that you found the goodness in today.
Whether it was in a big or small way, and even the little things in between.
If not, then tomorrow is a new day. :)

much love,
colie

ps. i will start the new feature next tuesday.
i hope you stop by and check it out. :)

Converse + Rain + Movie

12/20/2011

I slept horribly last night.
Which was such a shame since the night before I had a full 8 hours of sleep.
It was kinda magically.
Really. :)

Today was a bit rainy & gloomy.
Mom, the girls, and I went out to eat pizza for lunch this afternoon.
Then stopped to do some last minute holiday shopping!
I was so exhausted, but had a lot of fun.

Afterwards, I took a nap for a bit.
I had a job interview @ 5:30 this evening.
It was a strange time for an interview, but yeah.
I was extremely nervous.
It didn't help that there were FIVE people in the interview asking me questions.
So nerve racking!!
Fingers crossed for this job, though.
Full-time, off every weekend, benefits after 90 days, and no one-on-one patient interaction!
:)

When I was finally done with my interview, I drove home to meet up with mom and libs.
We had decided early to go to the theater to watch Sherlock Holmes, but at the last minute we changed it to New Year's Eve.

I was happy to see either one.
I'm really glad we ended up watching New Year's Eve, though.
Most people think those type of movies (like Valentine's Day) are awful.
& to be honest ... they aren't the BEST movies, but I love them!
This movie had an amazing cast + New York City + funny + endearing = New Year's Eve!

It was kinda more than perfect for me. :)
Hope you had a wonderful Tuesday!
much love, colie.

ps. the out takes that run during the credits are HILARIOUS!! :) truly.

Movie Monday.

12/19/2011

Tonight I watched the 1995 movie, While you were Sleeping.
It starred Sandra Bullock, Bill Pullman, Peter Gallagher, Peter Boyle, & Jack Warden.
I kinda adore this movie. :)
(and any other movie with Sandra Bullock!!)

Lucy (Sandra Bullock) is a ticket booth collector at a train station in Chicago.
She is living alone with no family.
Peter (Peter Gallagher) happens to enter the train station that morning.
While attempting to get on the train, Peter is in an accident that almost kills him.
Luckily, Lucy was at hand to help. ;)

Peter is taken to the hospital.
Lucy is unable to see him because she isn't family.
So, the nurse helps her by saying she is Peter's fiance.
Well, that is where the story gets really good.
Peter's family shows up and Lucy really likes them.
So she pretends to be Peter's fiance because she can't bare to tell them otherwise.
Plus, she begins to enjoy having a "family" around for once.

All the while, Jack (Bill Pullman), Peter's brother is there for Lucy through a hard week.
As fate would have it, they begin falling for each other, but unable to tell each other.
Since, ya know, Lucy is pretending to be engaged to his brother and all. :/

So, Peter finally wakes up only to realize he is "engaged" to someone he can't remember.
After some time, he warms up to Lucy and realizes he has been given a second chance at life.
Thus, becoming a "new man".
& Peter wants to marry Lucy after all!

Oh dear. :/

The wedding begins only to be cut short by Lucy.
She tells his parents that she is in love with their son.
& it isn't Peter! Yikes!

& the rest is history. :)

Sorry that I gave the ending away to those who haven't seen it.
I couldn't help myself.
It's an old & cheesy movie, but I love it! :)

Happy Happy Monday!

sunday. sunday.

12/11/2011

me, oh my.
today was another long shift @ the pharmacy.
9 hours with no break -- but i do love staying busy.
being slow makes for a much longer day, folks.
luckily i only work once every 3rd sunday!
i had to have a ton of this:

 **coffee**

& one of these yummy candy bars. ;)

so i have some big news to announce on my part in the coming months. but mums-the-word until i know more details! i'm beyond excited ... & slightly nervous. i can't wait to share all the details.

anyways, i hope you all had a lovely sunday.
i'm off to relax & watch a movie before bed!

much love, colie.
